Who is Associates in Pediatric Therapy and Where is the Northern Kentucky Office?

Associates in Pediatric Therapy (APT) is excited to announce the opening of our newest clinic in Northern Kentucky! APT is a therapeutic clinic practice providing services for children with special needs in Metro Louisville, Lexington, Bowling Green, Northern Kentucky and Southern Indiana. APT was founded in October, 2007, by Renea Sageser, a speech language pathologist. APT officially opened our first clinic’s doors in January, 2008, in Shelbyville, KY.  In 2008, APT had 6 part-time employees and today, we are over 175 employees strong and growing.  

APT has partnered with The Kidz Club Erlanger since 2017 and is excited to have expanded our presence in the Northern Kentucky area with the opening of our own brick and mortar clinic at 51 Cavalier Blvd, Suite 230, Florence, KY 41042!

What Services does the Northern Kentucky Office Provide?

The Northern Kentucky Office is excited to offer pediatric occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech therapy. These services can help address any challenges a child might have at school, home, or in life. APT therapists treat multiple diagnoses including, but not limited to: ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Stuttering, Traumatic Brain Injury, developmental delays, learning disabilities, speech disorders and more.

Occupational therapists work with children in the following areas:

  • Develop fine motor skills (i.e hand strength, dexterity, coordination, grasp, release, etc.) and handwriting skills
  • Increase hand-eye coordination to improve kids’ play and school skills (i.e. hitting a target, batting a ball, copying from a blackboard, etc.)
  • Improve independence with self-care tasks (i.e. bathing, getting dressed, brushing teeth, using utensils, etc.)
  • Address emotional regulation and self-regulation (i.e. dealing with frustration, anxiety, high/low energy)
  • Improve attention and social skills to allow development of interpersonal relationships
  • Expand diet for children with sensory processing concerns related to feeding
  • Evaluate need for specialized equipment (i.e. splints, bathing equipment, dressing devices, self-feeding aids, etc.)

Physical therapists work with children in the following areas:

  • Address concerns related joint range of motion, muscle tone, strength, neurological function, motor control and posture 
  • Improve a child’s balance, coordination, strength and endurance
  • Assist with positioning for daily routines and activities
  • Improve child’s performance in movement (i.e. rolling, crawling, walking, running, jumping, etc.)
  • Teach children with mobility devices to navigate safely in various environments

Speech-language pathologists work with children in the following areas:

  • Increase child’s understanding of verbal language 
  • Expand ability to express wants, needs, and thoughts in multiple modalities (words, sign language, communication device, etc.)
  • Teach children with social delays how to interact more appropriately with peers in social settings
  • Improve speech sound production skills so that a child can be better understood by communicative partners
  • Evaluate need for specialized equipment, such as speech-generating devices or adapted feeding materials

What Equipment is at the Northern Kentucky Office?

Our Northern Kentucky Office includes 8 treatment rooms, 1 feeding room and countless toys and games for children of all ages. Additionally, we offer a therapeutic gym with a treadmill, balance beam, stairs, trampoline, therapy balls, and pretend play area filled with toys to keep children engaged during therapy visits. Finally, our office will include a soft play room with a ball pit and a Snoezelen room for children to explore and help regulate their bodies during therapy.
